Despite the big leak just before the Ubisoft conference, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hopes was one of the great announcements of E3 2021. And to develop an ever more ambitious sequel, the Spanish publisher has massively mobilized its troops.

In this second episode, Mario, his friends and the famous Rabbids will travel across the planets of the galaxy to rescue the Sparks. Once again, the player will have the possibility of composing his squad of three fighters in order to take part in turn-based tactical combat. But, unlike the initial episode launched in 2017 on Nintendo Switch, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope will offer real freedom of movement.

A sequel that changes perspective

During an interview at the microphone of Multiplayer.it, Davide Soliani, the creative director of the game, and the producer Cristina Nava returned to the scale of the project. Indeed, if a little more than 100 people had been mobilized on Kingdom Battle, Sparks of Hope requires a team three times larger.

Indeed, this new game opts for a 360° camera that the player will be able to control freely (which was not the case in the previous opus). In addition, the environments will be more open this time, but without speaking of “open world”. Exploration will therefore be an integral part of the gameplay. Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope will be released on Switch in 2022.
