According to data gathered by Ampere Analysis, the little Xbox Series S would be more popular than its big sister…

And this, on various “major markets”.

The Xbox Series S plus stronger than the Xbox Series X?

A little over a year ago, Microsoft launched its big Xbox Series offensive, with the super-powerful Xbox Series X on the one hand, and the smaller, more compact, less powerful Xbox Series S on the other. and 100% digital. If many are eyeing the side of the Xbox Series X, it seems that many players have also chosen to opt for the little sister.

This is revealed by Ampere Analysis which, regarding the third quarter of 2021, estimates that the Xbox Series S posted “sales higher than the Xbox Series X in several major markets”. As a 100% digital product, the Xbox Series S has also boosted the digital gaming market, since according to GSD Data, more than 90% of Call of Duty: Vanguard sales on Xbox come from the digital market.

A hard-to-find console

For the record, remember that if the Xbox Series X cannot be found in stores, buying an Xbox Series S is not a problem. Also, it's a safe bet that the less patient, eager to afford an Xbox Series X since last November, have decided to turn to the small white console.

In its latest report, Ampere Analysis estimates that Microsoft has sold a total of 6,7 million Xbox Series worldwide, without however making the distinction between the two versions of the machine. By way of comparison, Sony would have sold a total of 12,8 million PS5, without forgetting Nintendo, which watches this small world from up there, with 89,7 million Switch sold.

Obviously, it should be remembered that Sony like Microsoft are not able to meet the very strong demand, the fault of the shortage of semiconductors. In September, however, Sony was able to supply enough PS5s to stores to overtake the Nintendo Switch in sales that same month.

As for the third quarter of 2021, Sony sold 3,24 million PS5s, compared to 3,9 million Switches at Nintendo, and 1,36 million Xbox Series at Microsoft.
