After dropping the franchise's surname (Pro Evolution Soccer), has Konami also abandoned any ambition for its football "simulation"?

On July 21, Konami surprised everyone with double information about the future of its “football” franchise Pro Evolution Soccer. Not only did she change her name to keep only the "eFootball" part introduced two years ago, but she also turned to the world of free-to-play to the despair of many fans.

7 reviews, many “extremely negative”

Today September 30, 2021 marks the official release of this eFootball 2022, on the Steam platform in particular, and the least we can do is that the PC reception is freezing. In player memory, this is even the first time that we have discovered such a pile of negative reviews for a game of this ilk on the Valve platform.

After just a few hours, more than 7 reviews had been left by players… and the vast majority of them are negative: only 000% praise Konami's work. Having not had a chance to try the game, we will keep some distance from these reviews, but many of them point to the player animation that "feels like you're sliding on the lawn": it had already struck us in the first gameplay video (above).

While our test of FIFA 22 should not take long, this launch of eFootball 2022 is a very bad signal sent to football fans: it's a bit as if Konami had more or less decided to give up their arms against the machine. Electronic Arts. Too bad, real competition between the two franchises was probably the best way to see them renew themselves.
