Steam Deck: drivers to install Windows 10 are available (but there are restrictions)

Windows was widely expected on the Steam deck, and there it is, the operating system from Microsoft is finally available on the console. Alas, some rather pesky restrictions still exist today.

Now that the first deliveries have been made to players, Valve can step up a gear with its Steam Deck. Thus, the American firm has just put on line the drivers which make it possible to install Windows. They are all available here. There you will find the GPU, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers.

Restrictions that are too burdensome?

To perform the installation, it is recommended to copy these drivers to a USB key (or microSD card). Then press the power button on the console while holding down the volume key. This will open the boot menu. You will then need to select the driver storage medium and then follow the instructions.

Unfortunately, two concerns may taint the user's experience once Windows is installed. Already, Steam does not support dual booting. This means that it is impossible to keep SteamOS with Windows on the console. In addition, the audio drivers are not yet available, the speakers and the 3,5 mm jack port will no longer be functional with Microsoft's OS. It is mandatory to use a device (headphones, speaker, etc.) connected via Bluetooth or USB-C in order to ensure the distribution of sound. You have been warned!
