Make sure you are well hidden behind a wall or barrier when tagging enemies in Cyberpunk 2077. If an enemy's eye gauge fills up, it means they have a vision of you. If their gauge fills up completely, they'll know where you are and alert all of their friends, forcing you into battle.

However, the marking mechanic will allow you to see the outlines of any enemy, even if you're hidden behind a wall. This is especially useful for helping you plan your next move well in advance, or even use hacking skills without getting caught.

This is a fundamental stealth mechanic in Cyberpunk 2077 that you should learn early in the game, as you always need to be aware of the enemy's layout. In all situations where you can't be aggressive, marking off the area first by marking enemies will help you succeed in situations.
