Gran Turismo 7 has almost become unplayable following its latest update

Update of 18/03/2022 at 16:45 p.m.: The servers of Gran Turismo 7 are back and Polyphony Digital has directly deployed the 1.08 patch to correct the problems caused by the 1.07 update. According to the Japanese studio, the latter could prevent the game from starting correctly on PS5 and PS4. In order to preserve the integrity of the data linked to each user, the maintenance of the servers was then extended.

In addition, Kazunori Yamauchi himself said that the rewards for some events have been adjusted. However, for reasons of realism, the (exorbitant) price of each vehicle will be maintained in order to support the notion of "rarity". Microtransactions also remain relevant. Polyphony will later detail its schedule for additional content (races, events, etc.) that will land in Gran Turismo 7.

La racing simulation imagined by Polyphony Digital has been in a bad position for several hours now. In effect, Gran Turismo 7 is almost no longer playable at the time of this writing.

The PlayStation exclusive's misadventures kicked off this Thursday shortly after patch 1.07 rolled out. The update has not escaped criticism since it is supposed to reduce the amount of currency earned at the end of a race. This makes it more difficult to obtain additional vehicles… And if we add to this the omnipresence of microtransactions to unlock content, we obtain a rather dubious economic model.

Stuck in the garage...

As if that weren't enough, the release of the patch resulted in server maintenance that was originally supposed to last only a handful of hours. Except that 30 hours later, the servers have not yet been restarted. On Twitter, Polyphony Digital mentions that a problem has been detected in update 1.07 and that maintenance must be extended.

Thus, several modes of Gran Turismo 7 are simply no longer accessible at present. To put it simply, only arcade mode can be launched when the game is not connected to the internet. A blow for a title launched just two weeks ago…
