Expected at the end of the year, the hypothetical Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 could revive an old Activision habit.

Does the Call of Duty: Elite program speak to you? It was, between 2011 and 2014, a subscription giving Call of Duty players of the time to enjoy exclusive content for a monthly tithe. A formula that Activision could well resuscitate in the coming months.

Towards a Call of Duty by subscription?

Infinity Ward promises big upheavals for Call of Duty. If it still remains officially discreet, the studio would nevertheless be at work on what could be considered as a brand new formula for an annual license out of breath.

According to trusted GamesRadar insider RalphsValve, Infinity Ward is planning "a major overhaul to the UI and UX of Call of Duty systems."

This would include "the launch of the first Call of Duty subscription program, including a mobile application", but also a new way to discover content within the game.

What form this program will take is still unknown. Note that this can also qualify a new form of seasonal pass which, why not, would also integrate into the future Call of Duty: Warzone 2.

As many details as it is up to Activision to clarify, now that everyone is reassured about the presence of the Call of Duty license on PlayStation once its takeover by Microsoft is finalized.
