In any case, this is what several new job offers from Cloud Chamber, the studio in charge of the project, suggest.

While (spoiler alert) the end of Bioshock Infinite literally opened up endless possibilities, the fourth installment in the iconic franchise could embrace the open world. It is indeed expressed in a job offer for a senior screenwriter the desire to "create striking stories, centered on the characters, in an open world".

BioShock's multiverse world opens up

After the cult underwater city of Rapture in BioShock 1 and 2, and the magnificent city in the clouds of Columbia in BioShock Infinite, we already knew that the story of BioShock 4 would be set in an equally fantastic new world.

Through the many job offers of the Cloud Chamber studio, we have an additional glimpse of what awaits us in this fourth opus. Besides mentioning an open world, a job posting for a senior audio designer mentions a "narrative-focused AAA FPS full of character and personality" project.

A job posting for an AI programmer also asks for
"consolidate and finalize the implementation of an urban mob system, as well as the systemic tribal ecology of an AI that can be aggressive".

Finally, a job posting for a Senior World Designer requires "the combination of purpose-built game elements with emerging AI behavior to create a 'living' world that provides players with variety at every turn. moment".

A desired project

If these new crumbs of information clearly make you want to see more, BioShock 4 is however not about to come out. In development since December 2019, this one should, according to 2K Games, last for several more years.

However, the project seems to be in good hands, notably with Scott Sinclair, the artistic director responsible for the three previous opuses. Original BioShock director Ken Levine is not on board, however.

The Cloud Chamber studio, however, expects to surround itself with the right people to carry out its project, in particular with veterans of franchises such as Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed or Battlefield.
