Battlefield 2042: if it's a failure, it's because of Halo Infinite (according to EA)

At a meeting this week, an Electronic Arts representative reportedly said that the chaotic launch of Battlefield 2042 is notably to be attributed to the release of the multiplayer of Halo Infinite.

While the first season of Battlefield 2042 has been pushed back to this spring and a petition asking for a refund of the game gathers more and more signatories, Electronic Arts seems to adopt the tactic of the ostrich.

" It's not me, it's him "

This week was held a crisis meeting at Electronic Arts regarding Battlefield 2042, on which the publisher had high hopes for a shared universe. The opportunity to put things flat and look back on these last few months, which were laborious to say the least. The CEO of Electronic Arts says the launch of DICE's latest FPS was the collateral damage of two years of remote working and "unanticipated performance issues".

So unanticipated that the Swedish studio is still working to correct them today, to the point of being forced to postpone the first season of the game for several months. Similarly, Electronic Arts acknowledged that "some design choices did not resonate with the wishes of the community". In this category, we can cite in particular the Sans-Patries.

Finally, a final excuse was offered that Battlefield 2042 suffered in part from a messy launch due to Halo Infinite's supposedly much better-tuned multiplayer. While 343 Industries is still struggling to fix Big Team Battle matchmaking issues and a controversial business model.

While waiting for other fixes, a strong wind continues to blow on the Battlefield 2042 servers, and fans of the franchise have mostly returned to Battlefield Vโ€ฆ
