A trauma still very present
During the month of April 2011, Sony's very young PSN was the victim of an intrusion pushing the Japanese manufacturer to put it offline for a while. This global incident affected approximately 77 million users and resulted in data theft and colossal financial losses for the company. The relaunch did not begin until a month later and the firm even had to apologize publicly.
This episode has heavily tarnished the reputation of Sony, whose detractors still like (10 years later) to mock the reliability of the PlayStation Network. However, if we are to believe the data collected by ToolTester via the Downdetector outage detection site, the PSN is not doing so badly against competing services. Even more surprisingly, Xbox Live and Steam are largely in the lead in this area.

Valve is still crumbly
This data shows the 30 websites with the most outages over the past 12 months. In the United States, Discord takes first place with 129 incidents. Steam accounts for 99, Xbox Live 63 and PSN only 49. For the latter two, approximately 64,5% of failures lead to the inability to play online.
In the UK, Steam ranks fourth with 177 recorded outages. Xbox Live records 102 and PlayStation Network 90. ​​Keep in mind that many of these concerns remain minimal and do not lead to a complete shutdown of the services in question. It can be simple disturbances.
