This is obviously an eminently subjective ranking, which is not intended to rank the games from best to worst and which will evolve over time, outings, and our desires.

1. God of War : an attendant Ragnarök

  • Technically dazzling
  • The Kratos/Atreus cooperation
  • The very rich combat system (and even a little demanding at times)
  • Many side quests, and often fabulous
  • A fun game that constantly surprises the player
  • Staging
God of War manages to keep all the aura of the saga, while completely revolutionizing its game system and progression. Santa Monica Studios delivers a work of impressive density, elaborated with care and endowed with a dazzling technique. An undeniable masterpiece.

It was in 2005 that Sony gave us the first episode of Kratos' warlike adventures. After three episodes which saw him go from "simple" Spartan to god of war of the Greek world, taking the time to inflict all sorts of abomination on the pantheon of deities, the most famous bald person in video games ( with this good Agent 47) took the time to rest for a few years. It was in 2018 that he however signed his big comeback to the delight of fans of the series.

For the two or three at the bottom who wouldn't follow, God of War is a series of beat them all mixed with hack and slash that propels us headlong into ancient Greece, alongside the gods and mythological creatures that inhabit that era. fantasized. In the sandals of Kratos, an elite warrior entirely devoted to Ares, you will have to demolish dozens, even hundreds, of enemies with great blows of the blade and other tatanes in the face, in a staging as bloody as it is spectacular. . A real success, the series has grown over its episodes to become a rich, deep license, with an increasingly polished scenario. Until reaching a fourth episode which contrasts radically with the usual formula, taking us on a short tour far from Greece.

A Kratos well under all Asgard

Five years after a third episode which had already constituted a veritable joke in its time, this fourth episode soberly titled God of War, returns to shake up the codes of the series by giving us a new formula as original as it is interesting. If Kratos is still in the game, gleaming skull and bushy beard sported proudly, however, Greece is over. Indeed, the Spartan went to live on the side of Norse mythology. And once again, it is in a very bad patch that we find him, since he has just lost his wife and finds himself alone with Atreus, a son for whom he is almost a stranger.

It is an aged Kratos, weary of the battles he fought that we find in this moment of mourning. And throughout the story woven by Santa Monica Studios, we will see him struggle to overcome this tragic period and to forge, if not reconnect, with his son. A rich, deep and endearing story that is told soberly, and sublimated by the performance of the actors embodying the different characters. Of course, not everything will go as well as expected and the gods of Asgard will come and mess with our hero, forcing him to take out his weapons to go break some jaws.

And the least we can say is that it still works just as well. In game, Kratos is still just as lively and chains the blows with rare fluidity. Equipped this time with an ax that he can throw at his enemies to freeze them, the Spartan twirls around the battlefield, supported by the arrows of Atreus in a dance of death that is absolutely fascinating once you have absorbed the ins and outs of the system. Especially since this episode introduces a host of equipment allowing you to personalize your style of play in depth.

If God of War 3, in its time, had already broken the retinas of many players, it is nothing compared to this fourth installment which takes full advantage of the capabilities of the PlayStation 4. In addition to the work done on the characters, their animations and their facial expressions (thanks to performance capture), it's the work done on the world that impresses. During the adventure that you can experience alongside Kratos and Atreus, you will visit many worlds of Norse mythology, from Asgard to Niflheim via Midgard. And each of them demonstrates the studio's know-how to create striking landscapes.

2. The Last of Us Part II: the essential masterpiece

  • A sequel that spoils absolutely nothing
  • The intelligence of his writing
  • The most beautiful game on the PS4
  • Improved gameplay just right
  • The beauty of a successful bold bet
The Last of Us Part II takes nothing away from the perfection of its elder. He does not reshuffle any card. It's a game that doesn't spoil anything; which embellishes everything and even gives more than what can be expected.

Long-awaited as the Messiah, The Last of Us Part II left many divisive upon its release in June 2020. Once again, Naughty Dog delivers a decidedly mature adventure that tackles tricky societal themes. This "second part" also gives pride of place to the feeling of revenge as well as to violence.

As soon as it was announced in December 2016, The Last of Us Part II crystallized the wildest expectations. After abandoning the adventurer Nathan Drake, the Californian studio has chosen to plunge players back into the exhilarating post-apocalyptic world seen in the first opus. Except that the deal is different because after the discovery of the duo Joël / Ellie in 2013, Naughty Dog decided to press on the young woman and on a very specific area: violence.

The PS4 at its zenith

Impossible to give the synopsis of the game without spoiler. Thus, we will content ourselves with specifying that it is Ellie who holds the main role of this masterpiece. First of all, The Last of Us Part II inflicts a memorable slap with its most realistic modeling and its absolutely striking details. Each animation is larger than life and the environments seem straight out of the best disaster movies. The feeling of immersion is increased tenfold and one even wonders how Naughty Dog was able to draw so much power from a simple 4-year-old PS7! At present, it is practically impossible to find better visually.

But The Last of Us Part II is not content with its advantageous plastic and offers visceral fights during which the slightest error can be fatal. The enemies are smart, the resources limited and the infected fearsome. You have to go through each setting with a fine-toothed comb to unearth precious resources that can be lifesaving in the most tense situations. Difficult to evolve serenely in the ruthless world of The Last of Us.

Rarely have gamers encountered such a gripping and violent game on console. If the story and certain subjects have divided the community, The Last of Us Part II remains a major work of the PS4. Despite the necessarily fictional context in which Ellie evolves, the game is intended to be realistic and sometimes quite raw. This title is not for everyone, but mature adventure lovers will be in their element!

3. Horizon Forbidden West: the best action RPG

10

Top 10 Best PS4 Games (2022)View PriceView TestHorizon Forbidden West

  • A truly sumptuous universe
  • Interesting storyline and characters
  • Well-crafted side quests
  • The fights against the machines still as exhilarating
  • A masterful soundtrack
  • PS4 versions up to snuff
Horizon Forbidden West is driven by a gripping story and an absolutely beautiful world. Add to that monstrous content, daunting battles and interesting side activities for one of the best PlayStation exclusives of recent years.

If Horizon Forbidden West particularly marked the spirits on PlayStation 5, Guerrilla Games also offers a high quality PS4 version. In 2017, the first opus was already sumptuous on this console and its sequel is part of this line. Of course, the exclusivity of the Dutch studio is not content to shine only thanks to its successful plastic. Indeed, the new adventures of Aloy have much more to offer.

With Horizon Zero Dawn in 2017, Guerrilla took a big risk by embarking on a genre at odds with what the studio was used to producing. Because after a decade of FPS via the Killzone license, the teams have chosen to create an extremely ambitious action-RPG in an original post-apocalyptic universe populated by machines. The success was there since the game sold more than 20 million copies in five years. A second opus was therefore bound to see the light of day... But the development was long and Horizon Forbidden West finally switched to Sony's new generation console. Fortunately, the PS4 has not been forgotten along the way.

A sequel that improves in all areas

This time, Aloy changes her playing field as our young warrior sets out to explore the Prohibited West, an immense country plagued by a terrible evil that is eating away at her land. The machines there become more and more violent and a plague destroys the crops. Our heroine must understand the source of this evil and once again save our planet from an unprecedented cataclysm. The story of Horizon Forbidden West is fun to follow thanks to its twists and an exciting narration even in the secondary quests. The staging is intended to be more immersive during the dialogues with the NPCs and the fights against the gigantic machines are experiencing a resurgence of nervousness. In fact, Guerrilla Games has looked at each gap in the first game in order to erase them while refining the whole.

Thus, if this sequel is placed in a certain continuity but without forgetting to incorporate new features which significantly modify our way of playing. Aloy can for example use a glider, climb a large number of walls, climb on the back of new mounts and of course swim in the sea depths full of dangers. We discover the world of Horizon from a new angle and the content allows us to enjoy it for several dozen hours. The additional activities are legion with engaging missions, well-thought-out environmental puzzles or even varied crucibles to explore. It's hard to get bored with such a program!

Finally, whether on PS4 or PS4 Pro, Horizon Forbidden West impresses with its sumptuous panoramas and colorful settings. Whether on a sunny beach, in the heart of a green forest or at the top of a snowy mountain, we take full view. So yes, it's necessarily less beautiful and fluid than on PS5 but the copy is extremely correct for such an ambitious game. The soundtrack is just as exceptional and the Spanish dubbing commands respect. In short, Guerrilla Games has done things well with this sequel which is certainly not revolutionary but which magnifies every aspect of the first opus.

4. Red Dead Redemption 2: The Best Escape Game

Top 10 Best PS4 Games (2022)PriceRed Dead Redemption 2

  • Rockstar's writing, still as engaging
  • A real visual slap
  • The rhythm, slow, which encourages you to take your time
  • An impeccable sound score
  • A coherent, lively and very immersive world
  • Uh... did we tell you it was sumptuous?
It took eight before a sequel to the excellent Red Dead Redemption, and the wait was clearly worth it. While keeping the Wild West spirit of the first, Rockstar Games offers a perfected formula and a captivating story carried by Arthur Morgan and his colorful clique. An adventure that is quite simply a masterpiece.

While GTA V continues to sell out by the bucketful almost a decade after its release, Rockstar has come to a point where it's able to do whatever it pleases with no one telling it anything. . Follower of "my game will be released when it is ready and not before", the developer confines himself to a restricted license panel, with strong identities, and even rarer releases. Suffice to say that when the sequel to Red Dead Redemption was announced, the entire video game sphere rose as one man, eager to get their hands on a title that had been awaited for many years.

And it was at the end of last year, eight years after the release of the first episode, that Red Dead Redemption 2 was released. A gigantic title by its ambition, which comes to tell us the events preceding the adventures of John Marston. A time when the proud bandit was still part of Dutch's gang, alongside a band of friendly thugs. And it is this time in the boots of Arthur Morgan that we will ride in the pampas, accomplishing misdeeds and good deeds according to a story which, if it takes its time, nevertheless remains devilishly well written.

A stunning second episode

Like the first Red Dead Redemption, this second episode puts us in control of an outlaw, a real, tough one. A guy who has roamed for years under the leadership of Dutch VanDerLinde, a thug who has rolled over and leads a small band of broken hands on the roads, in search of fortune and a haven of peace outside a world that seems to push them faster and faster towards the exit. It is after a failed robbery, which cost the lives of some of them and put them on the radar of the constabulary, that we find all these beautiful people for the start of a colorful adventure. who will question Arthur's loyalty and his morals.

Over the chapters, it's an incredible, lively, strong and emotionally rich story that Rockstar weaves. A story that will not leave you indifferent once you have finished it and that will offer you moments that will remain etched in your memory. Beyond the scenario, it is the world depicted by this title that will manage to make its way to the depths of your brain. The artists of the studio have done an incredible job to offer the grandiose setting that hosts this opus. Nature is lively, lush and we will be tempted many times to put down the joystick as we go, simply to admire this or that panorama during a sunrise or a sunset. Or admire the reflection of the Moon on a stretch of water.

Beyond this plastic beauty, Red Dead Redemption 2 is also a particular gameplay. Rigid, some would say, which accumulates the commands to carry out each action and insists on the heaviness of the avatar. Each keypress here is significant, meaningful, as if to underline the realism of the actions performed. And we're not going to lie to each other, this is enough to put off players accustomed to the nervous gameplay that is the norm today.

5. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, the best adventure game

Top 10 Best PS4 Games (2022)Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

  • Graphically amazing
  • Still good writing
  • Some unforgettable sequences and landscapes
Lovers of beautiful and great adventures, stop there, because Uncharted 4 is undeniably the game you are looking for. Real success, which tells us a very nice story with what it takes to close a story spanning almost ten years, it also pays for the luxury of being one of the most successful games on the visual plane. So much so that many landscapes, once the controller is put down, will continue to haunt your nights.

After three episodes and five years of absence, Uncharted 4 arrived on our consoles in 2016 with a slightly different tone, as if to mark a little more the evolution of the character, and that of the series. It must be said that this opus presents us with a tidy Nathan Drake, happily married, who left behind his years of adventurer. Finally, until his brother, whom he believed to be dead, arrives to offer him a golden deal: find the treasure of the legendary pirate Henry Avery. Enough to put our adventurer back in the saddle for one last and grand adventure.

A grand ending

If there is one thing that stands out from the first seconds of this Uncharted 4, it is that Naughty Dog has lost none of its talent for telling stories, no more for creating landscapes that mark the spirits. If the previous parts already offered sumptuous visuals, with striking sequences, this last episode pushes the cursor to eleven thanks to the mastery of the studio teams. Once again, our adventurer will travel the world over hill and dale, from Italy to Madagascar via Scotland. And each time, you will be able to discover breathtaking landscapes, especially when you approach the city of Libertalia, abandoned and overrun by the jungle.

This new Nathan Drake adventure stands out a bit from previous episodes by offering us less incongruous action and a little more puzzle. A welcome development that allows us to fully appreciate not only the work done on the sets, but also the writing work done by the studio. Nathan is indeed permanently accompanied by his brother, which gives rise to tasty exchanges, which make it possible to appreciate the evolution of the character.

Still as solid in its narration or its gameplay, this Uncharted 4 represents the quintessence of a series which has nothing more to prove and offers an end to the narrative arc of its character. A very successful ending by the way, which allows us to say goodbye to Nathan and his gang without any regrets. Well almost, because the game has additional stand alone content, The Lost Legacy, which features a duo of well-known figures: Nadine Ross and Chloé Fazer, in an equally delightful adventure.

6. Death Stranding: the best action game

See the priceDeath Stranding

  • An unforgettable experience
  • Complex scenario but generous in explanations
  • The countless degrees of reading
  • All the community aspect
  • Visually flawless
Dividing, revolutionary, boring. It would be possible to conclude this Death Stranding test with a litany of contradictory adjectives as the experience offered today by Kojima Production is unlike any other.

After his stormy separation from Konami, Hideo Kojima has teamed up with Sony Interactive Entertainment with the aim of producing a brand new license. Announced at E3 2016, Death Stranding will have waited only three years before landing on our PS4. With its skillfully orchestrated and deliberately obscure communication, the game has earned a reputation even before its release. What is certain is that it cannot leave anyone indifferent. That's why it's in our selection of the best PS4 games.

The genre of Death Stranding remained a mystery until launch in November 2019. The one thing we didn't ignore was the five-star cast that rallied around Kojima. It is therefore Norman Reedus who takes on the role of Sam Porter Bridges, the main character of this epic. Other big names in the seventh art appear in the credits such as Léa Seydoux, Guillermo del Toro and Mads Mikkelsen. But it's not with some of the cream of Hollywood that you necessarily make a good game. However, these headliners carried the project for more than three years until its release. And it is clear that Death Stranding is a very singular work.

Between mystery and genius

It all begins with a post-apocalyptic context that has been used over and over again and a crumbling earth civilization. The cities no longer communicate with each other and it is this dear Sam who will have to reconnect society in order to rebuild the United States. Of course, nothing is simple in this world imagined by the creator of Metal Gear. Blackish entities roam these devastated lands and do not hesitate to capture the living to drag them into the unknown. Kojima obliges, the scenario benefits from a multitude of twists over the hours. Appearances are often deceiving and several degrees of reading are palpable in the story. Despite the apocalypse, Sam does not spend his time fighting with a military arsenal but rather acts as a courier who must carefully plan each of his excursions.

If violence is far from absent, Death Stranding does not fall into the usual codes of big budget TPS. Sam walks tirelessly towards a specific goal while reconnecting areas to the network. If this goal may seem trivial, it nevertheless takes on its full meaning in the multiplayer dimension of the (temporary) PS4 exclusivity. Indeed, once the area is connected to this famous network, the constructions of other players can appear on the map. If it is impossible to pass other people on the map, these roads, ladders and other objects greatly facilitate progress. Because yes, the reconnection is not a simple script element but an entire part of the gameplay. It is even possible to leave a little "like" on another player's building.

We too will remain evasive about the ins and outs of Death Stranding. With its rather slow pace, its somewhat archaic management aspect with regard to the inventory and its logically empty environments, the title will not please everyone. However, how not to be caught up in this both magnificent and gloomy world?! Hideo Kojima has created a title that goes far beyond a simple hiking simulator (as its detractors like to describe it so much) and manages to renew itself after 28 years spent at the bedside of the Metal Gear license.

7. Persona 5 Royal: The ultimate role-playing game

  • This artistic direction!
  • A still compelling principle
  • This combat system, what a marvel
Persona 5 is an RPG that has to be earned and requires that we invest a minimum in it if we want to see the end of it. Once you have made this initial effort, the adventure becomes a real pleasure. If we add to that an in-depth gameplay and an eye-catching visual, we have a little marvel to put in the hands of all RPG fans.

If Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and other RPGs with Square Enix sauce are the most eminent representatives of Japanese role-playing games, they are not the only ones. In the shadows, less known to the general public, prowl just as emblematic series. Like the Persona and other Shin Megami Tensei who deliver, episode after episode, solid games that delight fans of the genre.

It was in 2017, at least here, and almost six years after Persona 4, that the fifth episode of the Persona license came to visit our countries. On the program of celebrations, the same plotters as usual with this franchise. A group of high school students who will have to be accompanied in their everyday life during a school year, these same high school students who can travel to a parallel universe filled with monsters in order to fight them, heavy psychological themes and a complex game system that should appeal to lovers of fine, well-oiled mechanics.

My name is Persona

Series started in 1996, which really blossomed from 2009, Persona is a sort of spin-off of the Shin Megami Tensei series. Each of its episodes borrows a fairly similar structure to address various themes in a fairly serious way, using fantasy to do so. Featuring high school students upset by a traumatic event, this series constantly oscillates between two worlds: the real world, in which you evolve during the day, and the Metaverse which occupies your nights.

During the day, you will accompany your character to high school and, like a visual novel, you will talk with your classmates and make choices that will dictate your progress. Once night comes, you will have the opportunity to escape to the Metaverse to explore other people's psyches and fight many monsters using Persona. These creatures will grant you many abilities and you can fuse them together to make them more powerful.

Addressing strong themes such as freedom, guilt, but also the passage to adulthood, responsibility or even emancipation, Persona 5 does not pose as a simple RPG despite a hairy game system like you have to, which will still require a lot of investment to be perfectly mastered. And as if that weren't enough, it has the luxury of offering an explosive visual, especially in terms of its interface. For its part, the so-called Royal version offers (finally!) Spanish subtitles, new characters but also an additional quarter revealing a completely new part of the story. Both regulars and newcomers will have plenty to do!

8. Final Fantasy VII Remake: The Perfect Resurrection

PriceFinal Fantasy VII Remake

  • A dense and breathtaking adventure over 45 hours of play
  • Midgar revisited from top to bottom, a universe in itself
  • A rich combat and evolution system
  • A simply brilliant soundtrack
  • A solid accomplishment...
By taking a little height, we can only salute this title which revisits with generosity and enthusiasm one of the greatest Japanese RPGs in the history of video games. And to think that we are only at the beginning. Long live the sequel!

Project fantasized by a whole generation of players, Final Fantasy VII Remake became reality during its epic presentation at E3 2015. Almost five good years later, Square Enix returned its copy which revises the graphics but also the scenario of this role-playing monument.

Is it still useful to present Final Fantasy VII? This JRPG that made the heyday of the very first PlayStation continues to inspire millions of players around the world. The Japanese publisher Square Enix has therefore taken a bold and risky bet by choosing to put Cloud's adventures back in the spotlight with several notable changes to the program. Indeed, we are not in the presence of a simple remastering but of a complete remake!

On a little cloud

The game currently released exclusively on PS4 focuses only on the part of the original title taking place within the city called Midgar. The environmental organization Avalanche therefore leaves once again to "save the planet" by committing attacks against Shinra, a company that plunders natural resources to satisfy its thirst for wealth. Cloud, a mercenary with a tumultuous past, joins these activists and finds himself immersed in a fascinating story that game lovers already know. But in order to surprise its first-time fans, Square Enix has significantly developed the main frame without completely turning it upside down.

It is quite logically that we see the titanic work done on the graphics. We are a long way from the premises of 3D on the 1997 version. The gameplay has also been completely redesigned with real-time combat that borrows a lot from the system seen in the Kingdom Hearts license. Everything is therefore more dynamic and above all more accessible for today's players. Characters, staging and tracks from the soundtrack have also been recreated for the occasion.

The late '90s icon looks great on PS4. Final Fantasy VII Remake has perfectly adapted its formula for a new audience while pleasing the unconditional fans of this iconic episode. Sony's console couldn't have dreamed of a better 'final year' before the launch of the PS5.

9. Bloodborne: the most beloved Souls-like of the PS4 generation

9

See PriceBloodborne

  • A cleverly revisited Souls-like formula
  • An artistic direction as frightening as it is sumptuous
  • Unforgiving but oh so rewarding gameplay
We didn't think it was possible, and yet FromSoftware succeeded with Bloodborne to revolutionize its own genre. Beautiful to die for, this title borrowing from the Lovecraftian universe remains today one of the best titles of the very talented Japanese studio, and that's saying something.

Following the release of a certain Elden Ring, we necessarily had to give a special place to another legendary game from FromSoftware. Launched exclusively on the Sony console, Bloodborne immediately rose to the pantheon of iconic PS4 titles. Endowed with a gothic universe and a gameplay as demanding as it is pleasant, this franchise a little apart in the terrifying world of “Souls” has greatly increased the popularity around the productions of the Japanese studio. And we'll tell you why.

After Demon's Souls, Dark Souls and its sequel, FromSoftware took everyone by surprise by announcing a new license in 2014 while players were expecting a certain Dark Souls III (which will arrive later). However, from its first trailers, Bloodborne marks the spirits with a red iron with its extremely dark atmosphere and its bestiary which seems to come directly from our worst nightmares. That's why when it was released in 2015, this PS4 exclusive managed to galvanize "hardcore gamers" in search of an experience that will put their talents to the test. To date, no sequel has been formally mentioned by Sony … A situation that only supports the mythical side of this title.

Blood will flow!

This epic takes place in a town called Yharnam. In ruins, the city nevertheless attracts many travelers who seek there a miraculous remedy capable of curing any ailment. The player also makes this kind of pilgrimage but once there, reality hits hard (it's the case to say). Indeed, the inhabitants have been contaminated by a strange disease which transforms them into horrible creatures. Our makeshift hero must then survive and defeat the monsters that stand in his way. If the scenario may seem a bit innocuous at first, it nevertheless reveals its interest over the hours. Because Yharnam is teeming with secrets to elucidate and deadly obstacles to overcome. But like any good self-respecting Souls-like, it's the gameplay that occupies a central place in the experience.

In this area, Bloodborne is not far from perfection! The game's level design remains among the best to date. Getting started is immediate but nevertheless difficult to fully master. We die there frequently as the difficulty is high but here it is learning by failure that allows you to move forward. You have to have a remarkable sense of timing to defeat the bosses who do not hesitate to launch devastating attacks. It's simple, a fight can only last a handful of seconds if the preparation has not been sufficient. The slightest error is heavily penalized, which is not to displease fans of the genre. Bloodborne is undoubtedly the epitome of Souls.

Added to this are notable qualities such as a life-saving cooperation mode but which does not detract from the challenge raised by the title, a soundtrack as masterful as it is gloomy or even a long lifespan thanks in particular to New Game +. And how not to remain speechless in front of the disturbing and sumptuous animations of the creatures that must be faced?! Bloodborne has everything of a nightmare but it is nevertheless a dream for seasoned players. Bloodborne is no stranger to the success of the formula initiated by FromSoftware and we hope for the upcoming announcement of a sequel.

10. Resident Evil 2: the best survival horror

  • constant discomfort
  • A real visual slap
  • La perfection du sound design
  • Great replayability...
The remake of Resident Evil 2 is everything you wish Resident Evil 5 and 6 were. A game that doesn't see handheld camera positioning as an excuse to become a low-level Hollywood cliché.

It was in 1998, on the first PlayStation, that Resident Evil 2 was released for the very first time. This sequel immersed the player in the heart of the city of Raccoon City at the controls of two new protagonists. Adored by fans and recognized as one of the best games in the saga, this episode deserved a proper remake. Capcom granted the wishes of its community by producing one of the major titles of the year 2019.

When announced on Sony's stage at E3 2018, Resident Evil 2 immediately set the tone. This remake is not a simple port on which the developers would have grafted graphics up to current standards. We are rather faced with a total reinterpretation of the work of Hideki Kamiya. If the story remains broadly similar, new environments have been added, the chronology of events is significantly altered, new gameplay mechanics appear and enemies are no longer placed in the same places. Thanks to this bias, Capcom promised to surprise newcomers as well as regulars of the license.

A zombie can hide ten others

As 11 years ago, the player must first choose who to embody between Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield. The first is a policeman who arrives in town for his first day of service (great atmosphere) and the second is a young woman looking for her brother Chris (the hero of the previous opus). To discover the scenario as a whole, it is imperative to launch a game with each protagonist. Of course, Claire will not encounter the same characters or the same obstacles as dear Leon. However, the goal of these two heroes of misfortune is similar: find survivors and leave the city. But to unlock all the secrets about the epidemic and the Umbrella Corporation, you'll have to make your way through the hallways filled with monsters.

To do this, exit the fixed camera and place a third-person view inherited from a certain Resident Evil 4. Such a viewing angle necessarily reinforces immersion and allows you to aim with more precision. A good thing since zombies are extremely resistant to bullets. The notion of survival takes on its full meaning here. On normal difficulty, ammo, healing, and save tapes are very limited in quantity. Flipping at each door opening quickly becomes a habit in this terrifying museum-like police station. Light effects, horrifying sound design and detailed graphics make this Resident Evil 2 a true celebration of the survival-horror genre.

Like the PlayStation episode, the remake adopts a progression punctuated by thrills, action and puzzles. This structure from games developed in the 90s retains all its charm 20 years later. If the round trips may seem redundant, they sometimes reserve a few surprises if a zombie decides to cross a window. Finally, the legendary Mister X is back, more fearsome than ever. On its own, this antagonist will give cold sweats to the most seasoned players.
