The 10 most beautiful demos to imagine the future of video games

Each new generation of engine is an opportunity for its creators to impress the gallery and to dangle us what the video game of tomorrow could offer on the graphic level.

To this end, we have selected for you (not without feasting our eyes in passing) ten technical demos which represent for us what engines like the Unreal Engine 5 (recently accessible to all) and Unity as well as technologies like the ray tracing have more breathtaking to offer.

Technical demos that will take your breath away

Our choice was not easy as there are truly sumptuous official and unofficial creations that have recently germinated.

The Unreal Engine 5 and the latest version of Unity have indeed been approached by developers and budding creators for a few months. And each with a certain artistic talent has split his own realization, for our greatest pleasure.

While most of the videos in our top 10 come directly from the creators of said engines, other individual works really blew us away with their extraordinary quality.

Without further ado, here is the list of the 10 technical demos that took our breath away (available via the associated link anchor), hoping that you will agree:

  • Next-Gen Real-Time Demo running on PS5 (Unreal Engine 5)
  • The Matrix Awakens tournant sur PS5 et Xbox Series X|S (Unreal Engine 5)
  • The Cavern par The Coalition (Unreal Engine 5)
  • The Carpenter's Cellar (Unreal Engine 5)
  • Meet the MetaHumans (Unreal Engine 5)
  • Book of the Dead (Unity)
  • Enemies (Unity)
  • The Heretic (Unity)
  • Adam (Unity)
  • Marbles at Night (RTX / Omniverse)

Too good to be true ?

As you will have understood, however, these technical demos are there to impress the gallery and show the full potential of the latest technologies. We can notably cite Lumen, Nanite and MetaHumans on the Unreal Engine 5 side, which are intended to present video games to us at their most bewildering level of realism.

However, it is hard to believe that such magnificent renderings can be achieved today with such fluidity, even on the most powerful PCs available. You never know, the dazzling visual evolution of video games in recent years could make such technical demos the norm in a few years.

And you, how do you imagine the graphics in video games over the next few years, and which technical demo particularly marked you?
