Last August, the first Quake landed on consoles and PC in a revised version. If it did not support the capabilities of next-generation machines at that time, it has now.

With the DOOM saga, Quake is a real monument of the FPS genre. This year, live from QuakeCon, publisher Bethesda Softworks celebrated the 25th anniversary of the license by launching the remastering of the very first opus. In addition to obvious graphic improvements, the title includes all the extensions including a completely new one designed by the MachineGames studio (Wolfenstein).

Earlier this week, Bethesda announced the deployment of an update to optimize Quake for the latest consoles from Microsoft and Sony. The game can now run in 4K and up to 120 FPS on compatible displays. Additionally, the Xbox Series X|S version supports Xbox Play Anywhere. As for the PS5 edition, it supports the DualSense adaptive triggers as well as the speaker integrated into the controller.

Of course, the upgrade is completely free. Quake is also available on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. It's even included in the Xbox Game Pass.
