Last week we announced that Netflix seemed to want to take the second step in terms of video games by recruiting Mike Verdu, a former executive in the video game industry who worked, among others, at Electronic Arts, Zynga and Facebook.

The initiative that was gradually taking shape in people's minds, thanks to the Bloomberg report on the subject, has now been formalized by Netflix. The platform has also provided some details about its project.

Mobiles, for now, and at no additional cost!

According to Bloomberg, the project is being built little by little and currently focuses on recruitment, as evidenced by the signing of Mike Verdu, former vice president in charge of relations with video game developers, and the announcements posted by the American streaming giant. Other details were also cited in the report and are confirmed today.

Netflix has therefore just publicly formalized its desire to develop in the video game field. Through its recent financial results, published yesterday, the American giant said that its expansion in this medium was only at its beginnings and that its previous projects, such as Bandersnatch, and the Stranger Things games were a first. basis for work and reflection.

Thus, a new category of content will indeed appear on the platform. A development in line with the evolution of Netflix which diversifies its content, between films, series, animations and TV shows.

At the moment, Netflix is mainly targeting games for mobile devices. These will be included in the subscription, at no additional cost. However, a possible price increase cannot be ruled out to justify the arrival of this new content.

In its statement, the American giant and its teams consider themselves “more enthusiastic than ever” and believe that “the time has come to learn more about how members enjoy video games”.
