Monster Hunter Rise: the PC and Switch versions of the demo compared in video

Available for a few days, the demo of Monster hunter rise on PC was compared with the version Switch in a video by ElAnalistaDeBits.

The opportunity to better realize the significant differences between the two versions of the new opus of the Action-RPG franchise from Capcom, both visually and in terms of performance.

Hunt for performance

In his ten-minute video, ElAnalistaDeBits offers an almost shot-for-shot comparison of different locations within the single available area of the demo. The process remains the same: first rendering on Switch, then on PC, and finally both versions of the same scene put side by side.

And it is clear that there is a world between the two versions. The major differences are of course on the side of the resolution, the quality of the textures and the frame rate per second. The Switch version of Monster Hunter Rise is limited to 30fps at 756p resolution, where the PC version can go up to 4K with no fps limit.

Overcoming the technical limitations of the Nintendo Switch thus allows Monster Hunter Rise to present a sharper and more detailed image as well as high resolution textures on PC. Same observation for the display distance, very limited on Switch to save performance compared to the PC.

However, the ElAnalistaDeBits video also stops at the demo title screen. On this one, we see a central female character in the story of the game. However, the textures on the clothes of the latter appear “cleaner” on the Switch version. Perhaps a slight omission from Capcom on the PC version, which is expected on January 12, 2022.

Unfortunately for veteran Hunters on Switch, it will not be possible to transfer their save to PC to enjoy better performance. Capcom has indeed not found a satisfactory solution to support cross-play and cross-progression between the two versions.
