World of Warcraft: faced with the drop in players, Blizzard announces inter-faction instances

This is one of the foundations of the license Warcraft : the conflict between the Alliance and the Horde. If the world of Azeroth has always been split into two factions, Blizzard will relax its mechanics.

No doubt to cope with the decline in players, the publisher announces the upcoming launch of a cross-faction system in World of Warcraft.

Le cross-factions arrive dans World of Warcraft

For 20 years, World of Warcraft has been split into two factions, the Horde and the Alliance. This system prevents certain friends from playing together or can "give players the impression that their faction offers them fewer opportunities to participate in their favorite group content", explains Blizzard in the preamble in its press release. In response to player requests, WOW mechanics will evolve with cross-faction instances.

More concretely, the two factions will soon be able to evolve together by forming groups for dungeons, raids and ranked PvP. Recognizing that some will struggle to move past decades of animosity, Blizzard plans to make this new feature a go, where possible. "We only want to increase the opportunities offered to them", justifies the publisher. The leader of a group can therefore choose to restrict the list to candidates of the same faction if he wishes, knowing that guilds and random activities (heroic dungeons, skirmishes, etc.) will remain reserved for characters of the same faction .

However, the magnitude of the change is such that Blizzard will not be able to incorporate cross-faction with the next End of Eternity content update. It is indeed 20 years of content designed to fuel the rivalry between the two guilds that needs to be changed. The developers are still planning a testing phase and deployment as part of a later 9.2.5 update.
