Steam Deck: smoother games thanks to AMD's FSR support

In order to ensure better fluidity on Steam Deck games, Valve is partnering with AMD to make the console support the technology FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) of Team Red.

NVIDIA's DLSS competitor should therefore be present as soon as the console (or laptop, as Valve would say), is released on February 25.

Steam Decked for FSR

The FAQ dedicated to the Steam Deck, quoted in source below, has thus been expanded with a section entitled “AMD” to specify what the integration of support for FSR technology will involve. As a reminder, the FSR offers for games that support it a resolution boost via upscaling and a way to maintain a fixed cap of frames per second by modifying the resolution as needed.

Some games already present on Steam and supporting the FSR will therefore be able to count on its support as soon as the Steam Deck is released. For others, AMD's technology should be able to be used when it is fully integrated into the console via a future SteamOS update.

This will therefore mean that the list of a hundred verified games (which continues to grow over time) should greatly improve in fluidity thanks to the native support of this technology. In any case, there are only three weeks left before the lucky ones can try it all out when they receive the highly anticipated Steam Deck.
