Here is a very big rumor to end this week in style! According to solid sources, PlayStation is working on a new subscription service to counter the hegemony of the Xbox Game Pass.

The first details that have just leaked should make many players smile!

A merger that speaks volumes

With more than 18 million subscribers to its counter, the Xbox Game Pass has literally blown away the competition with enticing offers and ever more impressive content. And if Sony tried to pull out of the game by reviewing the policy of its PlayStation Now, the Japanese manufacturer never managed to catch up. But that could soon change...

Indeed, Bloomberg, through the very serious journalist Jason Schreier, published a small bomb this Friday. Based on reports from knowledgeable sources, the site claims Sony is working on a brand new service known internally as Project Spartacus. The latter should merge the current PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now under a single name.

Really interesting benefits?

Against a monthly subscription, members will be able to access a vast catalog of games from their PS4 and PS5. Still according to Bloomberg, the offer will be divided into three distinct formulas with necessarily different prices. In addition, the deployment of Project Spartacus should lead to the disappearance of PlayStation Now, where the name PlayStation Plus will probably be kept.

The first level should only contain the advantages currently offered within PlayStation Plus. This includes free games, the ability to play online and send saves to the cloud. The second formula would add a catalog of PS4 and PS5 titles that can be played at will. As for the third, it would bring together the bonuses mentioned above but also exclusive demos, the possibility of playing in streaming and games from previous generations (PS1, PS2, PS3 and PSP).

Sony has so far declined to respond to information relayed by Bloomberg. The service could be launched as early as spring 2022.
