Last March, Square Enix announced, after an unfortunate leak, the release of a collection around the three opuses tomb raider, Tomb Raider : Definitive Survivor TrilogyOn PS4 and Xbox One. Playable on next-generation consoles, these three components therefore benefit from the performance allocated by the new machines that are the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

However, it was only recently that the latest opus to date, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, received an update giving it better performance, and this, in the greatest discretion.

4K and 60 fps finally together on PS5

On July 23, the 2.01 update was deployed in total surprise to allow Shadow of the Tomb Raider to support both 4K resolution and 60 fps on PlayStation 5.

Thus, the game is now able to run, simultaneously, resolutions as well as a high frame rate. Previously, it was necessary to make a choice, because one of the improvements came at the expense of the other: 1080p / 60 fps or 4K / 30 fps.

What is all the more surprising is that no announcement about this update has been made by the publisher, Square Enix, and the developers at Eidos Montreal. When we know that the previous Shadow of the Tomb Raider patch dates from 2019, the surprise is all the greater!

Still, after multiple editions and patches dedicated to the game, Shadow of the Tomb Raider welcomes an update expected by owners of new generation consoles. Speaking of which, the game's page on the Xbox Store now says "Optimized for Xbox Series X|S".

An addition that is also surprising since Lara Croft's latest adventure was already one of the titles that were to benefit from Microsoft's FPS Boost last May.
