Deathloop: alerted by technical problems on PC, Arkane reassures its players

Warmly welcomed by the press (except by me, because I'm a grumpy old man), Deathloop suffers from a rather modest reputation on Steam. Blame it on user feedback highlighting major issues with stuttering and instability.

Currently rewarded with an “Average” evaluation on Steam, despite an impressive 89/100 on Metacritic, Deathloop is a game that is doing much better on PlayStation 5 than on PC, according to some players.

Arkane is investigating the instability of the PC version

If it is not the most demanding title released this year, Deathloop puts PCs to the test. Even if they meet the hardware configurations required to launch it in good conditions.

Many players complain of slowdowns, jerks, even freezes and crashes. Author of the PC test, I can also testify that the framerate was yoyoing and that I suffered several crashes during my visits to Blackreef. So many problems that alert the developers of Arkane Lyon, who announced today that they are looking for the cause of these instabilities.

On Reddit, one of the studio's community managers said: "We are aware that some PC users are having stuttering issues in Deathloop. We are actively investigating the cause of the issue and will provide you with more specific information as soon as possible. »

According to several observers, the integration of the DRM Denuvo would be responsible for these technical problems. Indeed, the anti-piracy solution is known to affect the performance of the games on which it is grafted. This was particularly the case for Dishonored or Prey, two previous Arkane games which had finally gone without software after a corrective update. And my little finger tells me that Deathloop is about to do the same.
