Deathloop: Arkane Studios makes weapons and powers speak in a gameplay trailer

Deathloop: Arkane Studios makes weapons and powers speak in a gameplay trailer

Expected May 21 on PS5 and pc, Deathloop showcases a few weapons and powers in four minutes of gameplay.

Our colleagues at Game Informer were treated to an exclusive video from the Lyonnais of Arkane. The opportunity to see their next game, published by Bethesda, a little more in action. The least we can say is that Deathloop is undeniably reminiscent of the Dishonored franchise, with a very sixties twist.

An arsenal of varied weapons

The video begins its weapon tour by presenting us with the good old machete, which will be in our possession by default. Dishonored followers will notice that our character holds this weapon in much the same way. Beyond its simplicity, it should have its share of very violent animations to bring down our opponents in a very personal way.

Next we have the PT-6 'Spiker', a kind of nail gun not unlike one of Metro Exodus' starter weapons. It will indeed charge the projectile in order to send it at full power into the body of its target. This makes it a particularly interesting weapon for stealth, much less in the heat of the moment.
On the pistol side, we also find the Tribunal, a fairly classic handgun, and the Fourpounder, of larger caliber and strongly reminiscent of the famous Desert Eagle from Counter-Strike.

Next is the Rapier, a cross between a single-shot shotgun and a pump-action shotgun. It will indeed be possible with this weapon to shoot down enemies at relatively long range. For a more serious, melee approach, we have the Strelak 50-50, a kind of imposing automatic shotgun that certainly does not lack power. Budding snipers will be delighted by the Sepulchra Breteira, for very long-range combat. The Heritage Gun, meanwhile, is unmistakably reminiscent of a Winchester or Ashe's weapon in Overwatch.

On the automatic weapons side, we were able to discover the LIMP-10, a kind of Uzi. However, this is only part of the arsenal present in Deathloop when it was released. One thing is certain, however, it will be possible to take a small weapon in each hand, even if they are two totally different weapons.

Dishonored in the sixties

If the weapons were the central point of this sequence of gameplay, we could also see some powers and gadgets. Trademark of Arkane, teleportation will therefore make a comeback in Deathloop. Very versatile, it will be just as useful for infiltration, combat or flight.

We also find a power to send our opponents waltzing, or even earn a style point by shooting them down with a headshot during their flight. A power already present in Dishonored 2 is making a comeback: linking the fate of an opponent to others around him. Once the source of the link is taken down, the others will crumble almost immediately.

On the gadget side, we were able to see a multifunction device allowing, among other things, to deactivate cameras or to place an automatic turret.

Presentation of weapons and powers requires, we have not learned more about the other character stalking us and leading us into this death loop, and even less about a rather intriguing story. There are therefore only two months left to wait to discover the next work of the Lyonnais d'Arkane in its entirety. Remember that the game will be released for the time being exclusively console on May 21 on PS5, as well as on PC.
