A year after its release, the remastered version of the excellent FPS Crysis first of the name disposes of Denuvo anti-piracy protection.

Good news for many players, given the bad press surrounding Denuvo, often accused of causing performance drops, such as recently on Resident Evil Village or Deathloop. Sometimes wrongly, sometimes rightly.

While many big released and upcoming titles like Back 4 Blood or Monster Hunter Rise use Denuvo well, Crytek decides to get rid of it for Crysis Remastered. However, it must be remembered that this is only the first opus, and not Crysis Remastered Trilogy released recently.

It should also be noted that the Steam version of the game, released on September 17, a year after the temporary exclusivity on the Epic Games Store, seemed to lack such an anti-piracy solution. A no doubt pragmatic choice from the German studio, given that it waited a year before saying goodbye to Denuvo.

Other titles like Rise of the Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider also recently dropped Denuvo, and so this could be a turning point for many AAA games. A measure, however, to put into perspective, because most of these productions have already lived well.

Few are indeed those who do not arm themselves with the anti-piracy protection so hated at their launch. A decision after all logical, for the sake of profitability, and in order to prevent highly anticipated games from being immediately pirated.
