The Cloud Chamber studio remains very discreet about the fourth opus project to the saga BioShock, but more information could reach us as early as the beginning of next year.

In December 2019, 2K had officially confirmed the development of a new BioShock, a fourth installment, under the direction of a new team, Cloud Chamber. Located in San Francisco, the studio is headed by Kelley Gilmore and at no time was Ken Levine – the original creator of the series – consulted.

Unfortunately, apart from these few pieces of information, we are for the moment reduced to rumors like the one from last April which, based on the publication of job offers, evoked a much more open world than in previous episodes. .

Two cities shared vertically

Today, it is no longer exactly a question of an open world in the strict sense of the term, but despite everything of a universe that is larger, more open and complex than before. According to Oops Leaks quoted by DSO Gaming, BioShock 4 should actually feature two distinct cities.

The first, simply called City 1 for now, would be a wealthy free society led by a successful entrepreneur. Conceived as a sort of mirror, vertical to the first, the second city would be under the thumb of a dictator who would have only one thing in mind: to prepare for the attack on the other city. .

City 2 is described as a "undergo city" probably betraying a dark, perhaps unhealthy universe. To connect and share these two cities, there is a question of a “flipside zone”. This therefore acts as a border, but also as a preamble to a kind of still latent conflict.

Reliability of source to be confirmed

At the same time, we learn that the BioShock 4 project would already have a title - BioShock Isolation - and it would be expected to present it most officially in the first quarter of next year. To design it, Cloud Chamber would have acquired an Unreal Engine 5 license.

It should be noted, however, that this various information must be taken with a certain distance. First, they all come from the same source, but, more importantly, the source in question is not yet proven. This is a recent Twitter account called Oops Leaks. The future will therefore tell us if this source of information is reliable and perhaps we will already have some leads at the time of the Video Game Awards on December 9th.
