The complicated launch of Battlefield 2042 could well lead to a whole series of changes for the future of the game. Electronic Arts would even think about modifying the economic model of its FPS.

Almost expected as the messiah in the FPS department in 2021, Battlefield 2042 has finally tripped over the carpet. He mostly disappointed the players, who were quick to express their dissatisfaction. The many bugs, latency issues and new content that is struggling to arrive are at the heart of these criticisms… And as if that were not enough, DICE seems to be facing great difficulties internally.

A difficult step to take

With Battlefield 2042, the Swedish studio has already made the questionable choice not to offer a campaign mode. It could go even further, if we are to believe generally knowledgeable insider Tom Henderson. He claims that EA is extremely disappointed with the results of the latest Battlefield, and the American company would study "all options" vis-à-vis its game.

Henderson goes even further by indicating that a passage in free-to-play is not to be excluded, although nothing can be said 100% for the moment. This strategy has already helped revive some losing games like Destiny 2. It remains to be seen if Battlefield 2042 will follow the same path.
