World of Warcraft: the new expansion announced and a nice surprise as a bonus!

Today at 18 p.m., Blizzard gave us an appointment on Twitch and YouTube to talk about the future of his MMO mastodon.

Originally, this livestream was only planned to present the expansion that would succeed Shadowlands, released two years ago. But, in addition to Dragonflight, whose name had already leaked and introduced with a superb cinematic, Blizzard also took the opportunity to make a surprise announcement that will certainly please veterans!

The heroes of Azeroth who have successfully braved the Shadowlands will soon return to service. Two years after the release of Shadowlands, World of Warcraft will host Dragonflight, the new extension of Blizzard's MMO, on an as yet undetermined date.

As its name suggests, this new extension will bring the dragons back to the fore, after their departure from Cataclysm. While Azeroth still needs its Guardians, Dragonflight will open the Dragon Isles to us, an area that represents the five iconic dragonflights in different regions.

Who says dragons, says new playable race mixing human and draconid ancestries: the Drachtyr. A new class exclusive to this new race will also be introduced (the last addition in this category dates back to Legion): the Evocator.

Drawing their power from the five dragon volleys, this new class will be able to tap into their powers to cast different spells. She will have two specializations, ranged damage and healer, and will be able to wear mail armor.

A dragon-centric set wouldn't be the same without the ability to ride dragons. Thus, players will be able to count on a dragon companion to help them navigate the Dragon Islands. This companion will be fully customizable to match everyone's personality.

Finally, World of Warcraft veterans will be happy to learn that talent trees will also be making a comeback in Dragonflight. However, this time we will speak of two distinct trees instead of the three present in the old extensions.

Similarly, the interface takes the opportunity to get a new look (or should we say new scale?). This is intended to be more ergonomic and wishes to offer easier navigation. In particular, she will come to help players involved in craftsmanship.

If Blizzard unfortunately did not yet have a release date for Dragonflight, it is already possible to register for the beta via the page devoted to the new extension on the World of Warcraft site.

A great World of Warcraft Classic is also making a comeback

Speaking of old expansions, Blizzard had one last card up its sleeve before it went on air. The insistent rumors, leaks and investigations about him have finally found an official answer: a Classic version of Wrath of the Lich King is well on the way!

Veterans should not be out of place with this Classic version, although new features, such as Dungeon Finder, will appear. Anyway, Arthas will be waiting for them a second time in 2022.

The end of the year 2022 and 2023 will therefore be busy as far as World of Warcraft is concerned. Here's hoping it gives it a boost of vitality, as Blizzard's goose has been showing obvious signs of running out of steam since Battle for Azeroth.
