For the past few weeks, rumors have been swirling about the future of the MMO Blizzard juggernaut and its counterpart Classic, which are now being expanded with new elements.
A user of the MMO Champion site has indeed discovered in the upcoming version 2.5.4 of The Burning Crusade Classic interface files which suggest that the very popular expansion Wrath of the Lich King should soon receive the Classic treatment. .

In mid-February, the dataminer very well informed on the development of World of Warcraft Martin Benjamins had split his own excavation concerning a next expansion to come. The recent discovery of the user answering to the name of "hot" thus partially corroborates the previous rumor. Specifically, the following data was unearthed from the interface files of the latest build of The Burning Crusade Classic:
- Interface_WrathFrameXMLBindings.xml
- Interface_WrathGlueXMLGlueButtons.xml
- Interface_WrathGlueXMLCharacterCreate.xml
- Interface_WrathGlueXMLCharacterCreate.lua
These were in a separate folder just created in this new build. Chaud specifies that the interface files of the Classic versions of World of Warcraft have, since the arrival of the second expansion, been separated into separate folders, with names marking this difference like "Interface_Vanilla" or "Interface_TBC".
So the files discovered indicate that one of World of Warcraft's biggest expansions may soon be getting the Classic treatment. A logical outcome that would allow, while Shadowlands recently welcomed its final update, to bring the world back to Azeroth for a nice nostalgia session, while waiting for something new on the Retail version.
