Wild, the PS4 exclusive for a time directed by Michel Ancel, would have been canceled

Seven years almost to the day after its announcement, the unknown Game resurfaced with the most disconcerting information. Indeed, the game which was originally supposed to be a PS4 exclusive would have been canceled.

Formalized at Gamescom 2014 on the Sony stage, Wild would be an action-adventure oriented game in which it should be possible to explore an open world in constant evolution. Centered on the theme of nature, the title was supposed to allow us to control animals in order to use their unique skills. Unfortunately, this project initially led by Michel Ancel (before he announced his retirement in September 2020) has not been shown since the gameplay sequence broadcast at Paris Games Week 2015.

Abandoned in nature...

Unfortunately, there would be a reason behind this long silence. Because if we believe the words of journalist Jeff Grubb, Wild would no longer exist. “I can confirm that the game is dead. Wild is no longer relevant”. Grubb explains that the departure of Michel Ancel would have precipitated the cancellation of the game but that the development team could work on other projects.

As recently as last July, Wild Sheep Studio (the Montpellier team in charge of Wild) launched recruitment on LinkedIn. Thus, the structure should not close. However, since Sony hasn't said anything yet, it's important to take these rumors with a grain of salt.
