This is undoubtedly the major announcement of this week on the side of video games. CD Projekt RED has confirmed that the franchise The Witcher will resume service as part of a brand new saga.
For the moment, the information is not jostling at the gate concerning this project which has probably barely started within the Polish studio. We only know that this new The Witcher (the title should be different) will use the Unreal Engine 5. Until now, we had no script elements in our hands… but that has just changed!
A detail that raises many questions
Robert Malinowski, who is in charge of communication for CD Projekt RED, confirmed to the Eurogamer site that the medallion seen on the visual of the game (see at the top of this article) has the shape of a lynx. However, there is a small problem, because no school of the lynx exists in the universe of The Witcher. This goes for video games as well as novels.
The only work referring to such a school is a fanfiction whose events take place after those of The Witcher 3. The witcher Lambert and the magician Kiera Metz join the school of the cat there before reforming it to make it display the symbol of the lynx. But it would be surprising to see CD Projekt use the scenario of such a fiction for its game. The story of this new saga could also not be linked to this famous medallion... To be continued.
