CD Projekt RED spoke a lot this week. In addition to discussing the establishment of a new development strategy within its teams, the studio returned to the so-called “next-gen” version of The Witcher 3.
Along with Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will soon be getting an upgrade to utilize the capabilities of consoles recently released by Microsoft and Sony Interactive Entertainment. If this patch had already been announced several months ago, we now know its release window.

The Witcher will return to service this year
Thus, the PS5 / Xbox Series X|S optimization of The Witcher 3 will arrive in the second half of 2021. Remember that this upgrade will also be released on PC. All owners of the title will be able to download the patch for free. The game will also be marketed in standalone on the two consoles released last November. This will allow new buyers to get the optimized version directly.
Note that the PS5 / Xbox Series X | S adaptation is developed by the Saber Interactive studio. The American company is also behind the Nintendo Switch port of The Witcher 3. Better visual quality and "additional features" will be offered with the upgrade.
