The Settlers: bad news for fans of the Ubisoft license

It was due out in just two short weeks, but an unexpected postponement came knocking on her door. Thus, the reboot of The Settlers will not finally arrive in March… And the perspectives given by Ubisoft are rather abstract.

Last December, after 12 long years of absence, Ubisoft announced the return of The Settlers. It was in 1993 that this city-builder was born on PC, but the Spanish publisher had chosen to put the saga on the sidelines since the seventh opus launched in 2010. The prospect of a reboot therefore seemed relatively pleasant, but a last-minute unforeseen event spoils the party.

A disturbing delay?

In a statement posted on the game's official website, the development teams said the recent closed beta didn't prove convincing. The feedback from the players was probably not warm, and the studio logically chose to take its time in order to "improve the game and optimize its quality". Therefore, The Settlers will not be released on March 17, 2022.

Ubisoft even refrained from mentioning a new release date and simply said to postpone the launch “to a later date”. The Spanish publisher nevertheless promises to keep us informed of future progress in development.
