Enough to allow console owners to (finally!) personalize their PS5.
Official PlayStation faceplates approaching?
Available for just over a year now, the Sony PS5, contrary to what one might have thought, still does not benefit from any official faceplate. Indeed, with its removable fronts, one would have thought that Sony would very quickly offer collector fronts, but this is still not the case today.
In recent months, Sony has also removed many "unofficial" fronts from sale, from various third-party manufacturers. According to a patent recently unveiled, the Japanese giant would have (finally!) made the decision to manufacture it itself, and we can a priori buy it separately to personalize its PS5. A system similar to that adopted a few years ago by Microsoft's Xbox 360, which had a detachable front panel.
It remains to be seen now when (and if) Sony will actually offer its first official faceplates. To tell the truth, it is difficult to understand why Sony did not take advantage of this opportunity from the launch of its PS5, so much we imagine the success that could have black or even gray faceplates, PlayStation first way of the name. Perhaps the Japanese giant was simply waiting to have a sufficient number of PS5s in homes... Answer soon.
