On the night of Thursday to last Friday, Epic took advantage of the ceremony of Game Awards to unveil its technical demo sublimating the universe of Matrix. In full hype and a few days before the release of the next film directed by Lana Wachowski, The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience our retinas exploded, thanks in particular to the help of the studio The Coalition.

The teams of the American studio, which worked on the last episodes of the Gears saga at Xbox, provide some details on their involvement in this impressive technical demo.

Certain expertise

The Coalition took advantage of the broadcast of the experience trailer to provide some details on its role in its development during an Xbox podcast. This is a technical demo of the Unreal Engine 5, and who better than a studio specialized in this engine to offer the best experience capable of transcending the borders between platforms?

Indeed, The Coalition is already very familiar with the operation of the latest version of the famous game engine from Epic Games. Indeed, we are told that the studio had already been working for a year on the early access version when Epic contacted it for this project this year. He had even already delivered a graphic update for Gears 5 on the Xbox Series.

In short, The Coalition therefore worked in collaboration with Epic on this technical demo, in particular on the optimization of performance and memory. Remember that the UE5 experience is very detailed and large, therefore greedy. Their goal was to make everything as stable as possible by improving CPU core usage, optimizing ray tracing, and ensuring that enabling vertical sync would leave a stable framerate. The result of their work is therefore visible on the technical demo which can be downloaded for free on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
