The Lord of the Rings Gollum: the release expected this year postponed to 2022

Victim of a chaotic development, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum sees its release postponed again, this time in 2022.

The low-key, sneaky news comes from a PR email. The main reason for this postponement is the provision of graphical improvements brought to the Xbox Series X | S and PS5.

What we want is a very tasty game

In this e-mail, it is specified that Daedalic Entertainment, in charge of the development of the game, has joined forces with NACON as a co-publisher. The latter notably published games like Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong. The email ends with "Developed for Xbox and PlayStation consoles, Nintendo Switch and PC, the game will be released in 2022".

After an announcement in 2019 for a 2020 release on all mediums mentioned in the email, it was just as quietly pushed back to 2021 for still unclear reasons. However, it would seem that this one-year postponement was not yet enough, the addition of ray-tracing and new features offered in particular by the PS5 having visibly showered the ambitions of Daedalic Entertainment.

See you in 2022 on all consoles and on PC to see what Gollum was up to in Mordor, "my precious, my treasures".
