If stocks continue to be scarce, the PlayStation 5 intends to ensure a year 2022 that meets the expectations of players.
After a rocky year 2021, 2022 promises to be particularly rich in games for the PlayStation 5. Sony's "next-gen" console hopes to take its revenge given the supply difficulties that have plagued its sales for several months.
It must be said that the Japanese manufacturer hopes to put the dishes in the big ones with long-awaited exclusives, and which will allow fans of the brand to find flagship licenses, while enjoying many exclusive surprises.
God of war ragnarok
Difficult to miss as the first episode, which has just been released on PC, has left its mark on the PlayStation 4. And if this sequel, which features Thor and Odin facing Kratos, his son and Freya, is also planned on the older generation, it is nonetheless one of PlayStation's graphic standard bearers.
The surprise will, of course, not be as dazzling as when the first episode was released, but no matter: the adventure already promises to be as violent as ever, with its share of spectacular and fierce clashes.
In a long gameplay video released last year, God of War Ragnarok has already demonstrated that it will offer new environments: the player will be able to explore places that were previously inaccessible, with several new gameplay features along the way. Especially since Atreus has aged, and he will no longer be the burden that we could sometimes drag in the previous episode.
Horizon: Forbidden West
No doubt originally planned to be released at the end of 2021, it is therefore finally in 2022 that Horizon: Forbidden West will see the light of day. February 18 to be precise. Rid of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which had marred the release of the first episode, the franchise is thinking big, and it will be difficult not to find yourself embarking on this new adventure with Aloy.
Again, the title will be released on PS4, and yet, visually, Guerilla Games seems to have made further progress. Whether in its sets - new and very detailed, or in one of these previous shortcomings, the facial animations, everything seems to have evolved in the right direction to offer an epic towards the West worthy of the greatest open worlds.
The heroine will benefit from many novelties in her gameplay in the company of new robotic monsters. Freedom is there, it's up to you to be on time!
Preorder Horizon Forbidden Westforspoken
Announced as Project Athia, Forspoken finally became what it is on a good morning in March 2021. A year later, the title is therefore about to come out of the ground, and we must admit that it succeeded the tour de force of becoming one of the major exclusives of the PlayStation 5.
Signed Square Enix, but especially Luminous Productions, to whom we owe the decried Final Fantasy 15, the title is also scripted by Amy Henning, director of Uncharted 1 and 2, as well as by Gary Whitta (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story ). A nice cast that inevitably makes you want to know more about Frey Holland, the heroine of this twirling adventure, which gives pride of place to “next-gen” effects.
Pre-order ForspokenFinal Fantasy XVI
Announced to everyone's surprise in 2019, Final Fantasy 16 is eagerly awaited by those disappointed with Final Fantasy 15 (him again!), but also by fans of Final Fantasy 14 Online. The game is indeed directed by Hiroshi Takai, who took a prominent place in the development of the reboot of Square Enix's MMO. He was also the director of The Last Remnant.
He is accompanied by Naoki Yoshida, who is also one of the central players in Final Fantasy 14 Online. Beautiful people, who will have to work to offer something different in the franchise, while finding the fundamentals that have made it strong. Crystal, nations at war, magic… everything seems to be there to convince.
Hopefully for 2022, the pandemic has had a serious impact on the development of the title, but it should show up again at a special PlayStation event in the coming weeks…
Granblue Fantasy Relink
How ? Not familiar with Granblue Fantasy? And yet, the franchise first launched on mobile is a huge hit in Asia. If the West was only entitled to a fighting game (high-flying!), the license is no less important.
The recent critical and public success of Tales of Arise shows that the action J-RPG has not finished surprising us. Cygames certainly experienced some turbulence when it finally took over the development of the game internally after having entrusted it to PlatinumGames, but this time it's the good one: Granblue Fantasy Relink will be released in 2022.
And if you are still not convinced, note that this PS4/PS5 exclusivity on consoles sees its music composed by Nobuo Uematsu, to whom we owe the most beautiful soundtracks of the Final Fantasy saga.
And surprises!
The year 2022 promises to be particularly intense in terms of announcements. Sony will undoubtedly take advantage of the next few months to unveil more and more exclusive new features (at least temporary). The independent scene will thus be scrutinized very closely to discover the title that will succeed in doing better than Kena: Bridge of Spirit.
In addition, rumors are rife whether in terms of studio takeovers, but also of games in development. The remake of The Last Of Us could thus come out of the ground this year. 2022 will also be the opportunity for the manufacturer to unveil new real PS5 exclusives of the caliber of a Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart!
