At the end of March 2020, Valve relaunched its flagship series by offering a virtual reality opus called Half-Life Alyx. Admittedly, it was not Half-Life 3, but the game was hailed for its great qualities as well as for its graphics engine, the Source 2.

The engine catches the eye of modders and, like a pole stretched out to them, a few months later Sandbox teams (the sequel to Garry's Mod, developed by Gary Newman and the Facepunch studio, also stylized as "s&box") provide access to Source 2 tools. In particular to allow everyone to create freely.

From there germinated, in the heads of the modders, the idea of seeing what Team Fortress 2 would look like thanks to Source 2. Neither one, nor two, faced with the quality of this graphics engine and the tools now available, the latter therefore launch the bet to recreate the entire Team Fortress 2 game from the Source 2 engine, as if it were an official remake.

For the moment, the project, which bears the temporary name of "Team Fortress S2", is in progress and the teams behind it hope to make this vast project a reality that will delight the community gathered around the original game.
