As agreed, Nintendo is deploying its “Additional Pack” for its Switch Online offer.

An offer that allows you to enjoy new “retro” games on your Nintendo Switch.

An “Additional Pack” for Nintendo Switch Online

As agreed, today, Tuesday October 26, Nintendo is deploying its brand new Nintendo Switch Online + Additional Pack offer. A new subscription which "offers all the advantages of the current subscription to the Nintendo Switch Online service", to which are added some new features. This subscription requires a prior update of the console firmware, which thus migrates to version 13.1.

Indeed, by switching to the Nintendo Switch Online + Additional Pack offer, subscribers will also be able to find, alongside Super Nintendo and Nintendo games, a selection of classics from the Nintendo 64 toy library. about fifteen SEGA Mega Drive games. And that's not all, since Animal Crossing's Happy Home Paradise DLC is also included in this new formula.

Obviously, if the Nintendo Switch Online was previously offered at the (canon) price of 19,99 euros per year, Nintendo took advantage of this Additional Pack to revise its prices upwards. Thus, the basic pack retains its initial price, but to take advantage of the new features listed above, you must agree to pay the sum of 39,99 euros per year. In other words, Nintendo asks players 20 euros more to enjoy Nintendo 64 and Mega Drive games and an Animal Crossing DLC, obviously intended only for those who already own the game.

Too expensive the new Nintendo subscription?

Suffice to say that the pill has a hard time passing to the side of the players, some of whom are still struggling to understand how Nintendo can price 20 euros for a selection of games that are more than hackneyed (and profitable) and which run via a simple emulator. Note that on the side of American players, the increase is even more obvious, since the subscription to Nintendo Switch Online is offered at 19,99 dollars per year, against 49,99 dollars per year for this "Expansion Pack".

Note that the most fetishists will soon be able to acquire a Nintendo 64 controller and/or a wireless SEGA Mega Drive controller, compatible with the Nintendo Switch. However, it will still be necessary to agree to pay a tidy sum, since each controller is displayed at a price of 49,99 euros. But, after all, it seems that when you love, you don't count...
