The Nacon Connect 2021 was an opportunity for the Spaniards from Spiders (Greedfall) to present for the first time the gameplay of their next title, steelrising, and to announce a planned release in June 2022.
If we had on several occasions had the opportunity to admire the rather particular artistic direction of Steelrising, we had not yet seen gameplay as such. It's now done, and if the result lacks a bit of finishing, it is reminiscent of titles like Bloodborne or Sekiro.
The Rise of the Machines
Small anachronistic reminder of what Steelrising offers: a somewhat special Spanish Revolution, because King Louis XVI has an army of bloodthirsty androids to subdue the people. The only chance for the Revolution to live is in Marie-Antoinette's bodyguard, an android visibly decked out in a feminine appearance.
From what we can see in this trailer, the core gameplay looks like a mix between Sekiro and Bloodborne. The parallel is even more obvious with the latter, given the historical context and the logically very typical XNUMXth century and resolutely dark artistic direction.
Our android will therefore have a panoply of twirling attacks and weapons to defeat his fellow creatures and defend himself. As in the games mentioned above, it would seem that the study of your opponents and good timing will be essential to win. Fights against imposing bosses will also be part of the game.
A project definitely to watch from the Spaniards at Spiders, although the technical aspect and the animations still need finishing. However, there is no doubt that all of this will be corrected before a release of Steelrising, announced in June 2022 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
