Steam will soon natively support Xbox Elite (and other) controller features

Steam will allow you to configure the palettes of the Xbox Elite controller as well as the share button of the Xbox Series controller. The DualSense of the PS5 is also affected by a (small) additional customization option.

New features and compatibility are coming to Stream for Xbox controllers. They have been added to the beta version and a stable update should soon be offered to all users.

More binding options for Xbox controllers on Steam

One of the main additions of this update is advanced support for Xbox Elite controllers. It becomes possible directly in Steam to configure the four palettes that are on the back of the controller, with more bind possibilities for them. Enough to create a personalized experience and become more efficient in game.

Another novelty, Steam allows you to re-parameterize the โ€œShareโ€ button on the controllers delivered with the Xbox Series S and X. Players can thus make a button useful that they do not need.

The launcher also allows, with this update, the use of more than four Xbox controllers at the same time. Finally, Trigger Rumble vibration engine support is available for games that use the Windows.Gaming.Input API.

New features also for PS5 controllers

Steam is also working on better support for DualSense PS5 controllers. A new customization interface sub-menu is available, which allows you to customize the gamepad's LED light: always on, always off, or only activated when multiple controllers are connected.

These new features are therefore already available for beta testers, with an update of the drivers to be carried out elsewhere in the case of Xbox controllers.
