Despite a mixed reception from players and the press, Star Wars Battlefront II was a very important game in the catalog of Electronic Arts. However, the American publisher does not seem determined to produce a sequel in the near future.

In 2015, EA and DICE relaunched the Star Wars Battlefront license with an opus exclusively playable in multiplayer. More than two years after its launch, the title peaked at 13 million units sold worldwide. At the end of 2017, a second episode was in turn launched, but controversies against the economic model of the game quickly broke out. So much so that sales would have collapsed…

Never two without… two.

According to generally well-informed insider Tom Henderson, Electronic Arts rejected DICE's ideas for a Star Wars Battlefront 3. The reasons would be financial since such a licensed game would require "20% more sales to make a profit". However, two other Star Wars games are currently in development at EA. These projects would emphasize a single player and narrative experience.

It should also be noted that many developers from previous Star Wars Battlefronts have left DICE in recent years. Thus, the announcement of a new episode is unlikely at this time. Finally, despite the recent release of Battlefield 2042, the studio is already at work on the next Battlefield.
