Demos were for a long time a kind of obligatory passage before the launch of a highly anticipated game. Over the years, they have become rarer before gradually returning to center stage. This is good, since the future PlayStation Plus will offer dozens of them (and more if affinity).

From June 22, 2022, the new version of PlayStation Plus will land in Europe. Divided into three offers, the service will give access to new advantages depending on the formula chosen. The Premium level (the most expensive, at 16,99 euros per month) will be extremely extensive, with a catalog of more than 740 games (PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP, PS4 and PS5) in free access. But that's not all…

To try it is to adopt it ?

Indeed, PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers will also be able to download limited-time trial versions of certain games which they can then test before purchasing them. This week, the Game Developer site specifies that these “demos” will be imposed on developers. Studios that sell a game for more than $34 must make a trial version available to members of the service.

After the release of their game, the developers will also have three months to put the free trial online, which should allow the user to play for two hours. These versions must remain available for at least 12 months. Finally, it is important to note that this system does not replace the normal demos and other free weekends valid for all players outside PlayStation Plus.
