This is a common practice in the video game industry and it will hit the famous blue hedgehog very soon. Indeed, as the launch of the new compilation approaches, the first games Sonic will be removed from online stores.

On June 23, SEGA will launch Sonic Origins, a compilation that will bring together several opuses from this iconic saga. Some new features will be in place, including animated cutscenes and an anniversary mode with unlimited lives as well as support for resolutions on modern screens. But to take advantage of all the new content, players will have to pre-order the Deluxe dematerialized edition.

Leaving to come back better

History to boost the sales of its collection, SEGA opts for a fairly common method, however regrettable. Thus, all games included in Sonic Origins will be removed from online stores as of May 20. This concerns Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Sonic & Knuckles and Sonic CD. They can then no longer be purchased separately.

Note that the first two titles will remain accessible via SEGA AGES Sonic the Hedgehog on Nintendo Switch and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 via the Nintendo Switch Online Mega Drive catalog. PlayStation, Xbox and PC players will have to go through the Sonic Origins collection.
