Announced in May 2021, the compilation Sonic Origins has remained very discreet for almost a full year. However, SEGA is about to speed up communication…

While fans of the saga are eagerly awaiting Sonic Frontiers, the next-generation opus, SEGA is also planning to relaunch several iconic games from the franchise. For this, the Japanese publisher will soon market the Sonic Origins collection. It will bring together five distinct episodes including Sonic the Hedgehog and its two sequels, Sonic CD as well as Sonic & Knuckles.

Exit on approach?

This week, the Australian and New Zealand PlayStation Store gives us new information about this famous compilation. It will notably include a “classic” mode for each game and an “Anniversary” mode. If the first will offer to relaunch the titles as they were at the time, the second mode will bring an unlimited quantity of lives and compatibility with the resolution of 16/9 screens. In addition, each opus will have the right to new animated sequences of introduction and conclusion.

Finally, Sonic Origins will introduce missions that will require the player to collect coins. They can then be spent in the game museum to unlock new content. No release date has been confirmed as of yet. A physical version could also see the light of day.
