Shovel Knight creators reveal Mina the Hollower

Almost eight long years after the launch of Shovel Knight, Yacht Club Games finally lifts the veil on its next game. Titled Mina The Hollower, this unreleased title has just launched its crowdfunding campaign.

After countless updates and other spin-offs, the famous shovel knight will give way to Mina. Equipped with a whip, the little mouse will try to unravel the mysteries of the island of Tenebrous. Monsters will try to block her way, but our heroine will have many weapons at her disposal to fight her way through the heart of darkness. A member of the Hollowers Guild, she can also use a technique that allows her to move faster underground.

Tributes to many licenses

For this new adventure, Yacht Club Games drew inspiration from well-known games such as Castlevania, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening and, even more surprisingly, Bloodborne. The title will offer nervous combat at 60 FPS and an 8-bit aesthetic borrowed from the Game Boy Color era. A system of experience points will also be part of the collection of Bones. Note that these will also serve as currency and can be lost during the adventure.

Yacht Club Games will return to these mechanics in due course. For now, Mina The Hollower is scheduled for release in December 2023 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. The game costs 20 dollars (about 18 euros) by participating in the Kickstarter. The project is already more than 100% funded.
