Several years after its cancellation, Scalebound seems to have left a taste of unfinished business with its creators, PlatinumGames… Could it be resuscitated?

Indeed, PlatinumGames is calling on Microsoft to resuscitate the project!

A call for discussion

If the video game industry is often talked about for its immense successes, it sometimes happens that certain titles meet a tragic destiny. And this is unfortunately the case of Scalebound, an Action-RPG taking place in a fantastic universe composed of dragons. Initially thought to be an Xbox One console exclusive, the title was canceled in early 2017 after years of development, creating surprise and disappointment, but above all leaving a bitter taste with the teams.

But in an interview recently granted to IGN Japan, Atsushi Inaba and Hideki Kamiya, both president and vice president of PlatinumGames respectively, confided in their desire to see this abandoned project reborn. Here is what Inaba has to say about it: “Kamiya always wanted to do Scalebound. So we would like to have a proper discussion with Microsoft.”

Comments then completed by Kamiya himself: “We have worked on it a lot, and it is useless for Microsoft to keep the game in its current form, so we would like to do something about it. Phil [Spencer, editor's note]! Let's do it together! ".

Despite the humorous tone behind these remarks, the call for discussion is explicitly launched by Hideki Kamiya to the head of the Xbox branch. A branch that has greatly evolved since the abandonment of Scalebound and which could today be able to give a second chance to this sadly aborted project. Kamiya claims to take responsibility for this abandonment and apologizes to Microsoft who, hopefully, will be able to respond favorably to this call.
