Rumor swells around the announcement of GTA VI at E3

Rockstar Games has generally been quiet at E3 and Gamescom shows for the past few years. On the occasion of the porting of GTA V on next-generation consoles, the development studio could return to center stage.

Seven and a half years after marking the video game landscape, GTA V continues to be talked about as it prepares to be exported to a third generation of consoles. But it is now towards the future, and towards GTA VI, that all eyes are turned.

What's new at E3?

An impatience which has been played regularly, and this for a few months, the rumors around the announcement of GTA VI. This time, it is the presence of publisher Take-Two Interactive at the 2021 edition of E3 that attracts attention. A presence that is in no way a guarantee of announcing this new opus, even though its predecessor was announced in this way in 2013.

On the other hand, what seems more plausible, as the announcement of the game by Rockstar itself seems more important than an officialization through the publisher, it is the revelation of an increased and improved version for PS5 and Xbox Series X of GTA V which has so far only been mentioned. Because, as a reminder, Rockstar Games had chosen to personally announce Red Dead Redemption 2 in October 2016.

Still, that next-gen console announcement could go to Sony and not necessarily Take-Two. A choice which is explained by the marketing agreement between Rockstar Games and Sony which allows, in particular, PS5 users to benefit from gifts and advantages. But, for the moment, the manufacturer has not confirmed its presence at the event and could organize its own conference on the sidelines of E3. So, will we get any information or will we actually see GTA VI during the E3 period? The debate is still open.
