The excellent Resident Evil 2 Remake and the controversial Resident Evil 3 Remake now offer a whole new perspective for these monuments of the horror game thanks to the VR.

Praydog, a developer specializing in virtual reality, has indeed shared on Github the fully functional version 1.1 of a mod allowing to revisit the Steam version of the two Capcom titles.

Resident VR

After a revisit of the excellent Resident Evil 4 in a VR version exclusive to the Oculus Quest 2, it's the turn of the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3 to go through the VR box, but this time unofficially. A prospect that should also soon concern Cyberpunk 2077, which will also soon be entitled to a VR mod developed by Luke Ross, another specialist in the field.

Version 1.1 of this mod for Resident Evil 2 and 3 Remake should feature full motion control support, physics-based damage for the knife, physics-based grenade throwing, and a scripting system via Lua. To take advantage of it, simply add the downloadable elements on the mod's Github page, cited in source below, in the installation folder of the two games and go through SteamVR.

To see what version 1.1 of Praydog's VR mod has in store for Resident Evil 3 Remake, YouTuber Gamertag VR, who specializes in the field, shared a video presenting the concept and explaining how to install it correctly.

Other Capcom games soon in VR on PC?

Note that this mod also includes field of view support in VR for other games using Capcom's RE:Engine. The supported games include Resident Evil 7 (whose VR playability was only possible via PSVR), Resident Evil Village, Monster Hunter Rise and Devil May Cry 5.

Praydog is currently working on integrating motion control support into Resident Evil Village. It could therefore be that the latest titles in the Resident Evil franchise will soon be playable in virtual reality on PC.

Naturally, Praydog hasn't had fun working on full VR support for Devil May Cry 5 and Monster Hunter Rise yet. A logical choice, in the case of two titles with which virtual reality would clearly not go well together.
