It was desired since the launch of the console and the functionality will finally arrive in a few days (hours?). the VRR will soon be deployed on PS5 and Sony unveiled the list of the first compatible games.
A month ago, the Japanese manufacturer was already talking about the deployment of VRR (for Variable Refresh Rate or variable refresh rate, in Spanish) on its latest console to date. PlayStation then planned the arrival of this feature “in the coming months”. We finally have good news as players won't have to wait too long to enjoy it.
A handful of games to start
It is via an article published on the PlayStation Blog that Sony announces the launch of the VRR this week on PS5 via an update of the console. To benefit from this feature capable of eliminating visual aberrations (artifacts, tearing, etc.), improving the sharpness of graphics and overall fluidity, you must play on a VRR and HDMI 2.1 compatible television or screen. The following titles will receive the feature in "the coming weeks".
- Astro's Playroom
- Call of Duty: Vanguard
- Call of Duty : Black Ops Cold War
- Deathloop
- Destiny 2
- Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition
- DiRT 5
- Godfall
- Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered
- Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
- Resident evil village
- Tiny Tina's Wonderlands
- Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege
- Tribes of midgard
When the PS5 is connected to a compatible display, VRR will be enabled by default on games with this feature. It can be deactivated at any time from the console's "Screen and video" menu. The variable refresh rate can even be used on games that do not support it natively. However, display issues may occur.
