Less than a full year after its launch, the PlayStation 5 takes another step forward. Indeed, the Sony Interactive Entertainment console is selling like hotcakes in the land of the rising sun.

Since its release in November 2020, the PS5 has sold 11,26 million copies worldwide (VGChartz figures). An incredible dynamic that should not be stopped for many years. And this success is visible on all markets. Thus, Famitsu has just told us that the console of the Japanese manufacturer has just crossed the bar of one million units sold in Japan.

Even better than the PS4

If we are to believe the Japanese magazine, the milestone was reached in just 43 weeks (10 months). It's better than the PlayStation 4, which had to wait a full year to achieve the same result. However, the PS3 remains in front since it had sold a million copies in nine months. Be that as it may, Japanese gamers have mostly turned to the version equipped with a blu-ray player (847 consoles) rather than the Digital Edition (421 units).

To finish with Japan, Resident Evil: Village is the best-selling PS5 game there with its 67 copies. In a recent interview, Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, reaffirmed the importance of the Japanese market for Sony Interactive Entertainment.
