The players PS5 equipped with a screen or TV recent and high-end will soon be able to take advantage of a feature requested since the launch of the console. Indeed, the deployment of VRR (Variable refresh rate) has been confirmed by Sony.

But this is not the only novelty that will land on the consoles of the Japanese manufacturer in the near future.

A smoother horizon on PS5

In a post published on its PlayStation Blog, Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed the coming of the VRR functionality on PS5. The variable refresh rate will thus be available to owners of an HDMI 2.1 compatible display “in the coming months”. Once activated, this option will improve the fluidity of our games. The latter will first have to receive an update in order to support this new element.

The VRR will erase imperfections such as tearing and slowdowns. These corrections will make it possible to obtain better visual performance with, in particular, graphics that will gain in sharpness and scenes that are generally more fluid. In addition, the variable refresh rate will be activated for non-compatible games. An option that can be deactivated at any time which will lead to some improvements, but also sometimes to display problems. PlayStation also explains that the VRR should be available from the launch of future titles in the PS5 game catalog.

New now

As of today, the Japanese manufacturer's machines are receiving an unprecedented update. Among the major new features, we find the possibility of joining open and closed Parties on PS5, but also on PS4. This will also be the case from the PS App mobile application whose interface has been redesigned in order to allow faster access to community features. A dark mode is also arriving on the PS Remote Play application.

Let's finish by returning to the PS5 whose interface has been optimized on the side of the Game Base and Trophy Cards sections. Mono sound is also included. The update is available to download now and is around 1GB in size.
