Update from 08/03/2022 at 16:00 p.m.: it's now official! Sony will stream a State of Play this Wednesday, March 9 at 23:00 p.m. PST. The event will last approximately 20 minutes.
An event organized by PlayStation seems to be on the horizon… And this “conference” could be announced in just a few days. This is rather good since the Japanese manufacturer should have some great things to show us.
The games will perhaps not be the only ones to occupy the media field…
An event, yes, but when?
This hallway noise has been circulating for some time now but it is taking on a little more consistency today. Indeed, the Game Reactor site would have recently contacted several reliable sources. According to these, Sony will hold a State of Play or a PlayStation Showcase in March. Better yet, the event is about to be formalized to be broadcast this week… But uncertainties remain.
Still according to the words of Game Reactor, several studios belonging to the Japanese firm would have demanded a postponement of the program because of the war in Ukraine. The event could then be postponed by one or two weeks but its broadcast would still be scheduled for this month of March. Rumors go so far as to state that Sony could merge its upcoming State of Play and PlayStation Showcase into a single speech.
What to expect from this PlayStation conference?
In terms of games, the schedule is relatively busy for the PS5. Ghostwire: Tokyo could be among the titles invited to this showcase since it will be released on March 25. Final Fantasy XVI is also expected to show up since Square Enix had promised additional information for the spring of 2022. For its part, Forspoken should ignore it following its postponement in October.
But the one everyone is waiting for is of course God of War Ragnarök! Devoid of a date or even a release period, the Santa Monica Studio blockbuster would be well advised to unveil itself in the near future. Finally, Hogwarts Legacy is also one of the favorites since several insiders mention the broadcast of a new trailer (with key gameplay) for the month of March.
Let's end on this dear Project Spartacus. The service which is to merge PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now could be launched shortly. The manufacturer probably intends to talk about it soon and why not this month?! As for the PlayStation VR2, the latest indiscretions seemed to point to a release in the first quarter of 2023. Sony could therefore make us wait before lifting the veil on new details for its next VR headset.
